I never ceased to be amazed at how animals and seniors seem to understand each other in a very organic and natural way. Last week while helping an eighty something year old wise woman eat her dinner. I watched her while she petted a small dog that lived in the house with her and four other seniors. Her name is Naomi and she used great kindness as she gently petted the dog who also used his patience as he sat in her lap. I am convinced that he on some level knew that he needed her as much as she needed him during that particular hour.
His name is Little Buddy and was awarded the name by one of the men who live in this house who happened to be having a telephone conversation with his daughter trying to decide upon a name for this new household member. The two decided that yes this dog is little and yes he is a buddy to people in the house. They both agreed upon the name and it seems like it didn’t take the father and daughter team to come to an agreement.
